Why can't I find my blog on the Internet?

This is a very common beginner question. Understandably, bloggers are keen to be found by search engines and when they search for their blog and cannot find it, they are disappointed.

Search engine takes time before they index any website, so the very first thing a beginner should do is to give it some time.

In the meantime, you can do this to check if your blog had already been indexed by search engines. Type "site:your blog URL" (without the quotation marks) into the search box and search. You will see some results if your blog had already been indexed and none otherwise.

For example, the URL of this blog is so I type into Google search engine (see screen shot below):

I tested it on this blog when it was still relatively new and obtained the following result:

which showed 4 results in the SERP (Search Engine Results Page), proving that it had already been indexed by Google.

Now what if the blog had already been indexed, but one still cannot find the blog in a search even when one search using terms known to be in the blog? Well, likely the blog had been listed, but it could be in the 10,001th page and it will take a tremendous amount of clicking to the next page before you see your blog. You will then have to work hard to try to get your blog into the first 10 or 20 results.
